Books to get you started…

As well as our Good Books list, here’s a post from ProgressiveChristianity.org (August 2018):

We are often asked for a reading list by those who want to learn more about progressive Christianity. Below are some suggestions to get you, or someone you know, started:

A good place to start is a book by Paul Alan Laughlin with Glenna S. Jackson, Remedial Christianity: What Every Believer Should Know About the Faith but Probably Doesn’t(Polebridge Press) Although this book is ten years old, it is still one of the best books on raising the important questions about Christianity.

Other Book suggestions:

Rescuing the Bible from Fundamentalism, John Shelby Spong
Who Wrote the Bible, Richard Elliott Freidman (this is primarily about the Hebrew Scriptures but the book demonstrates how the Bible was changed over the centuries)

Jesus
The Historical Jesus for Beginners, William M. Linden (2008)
